পঞ্চগড়ে অগ্নিকাণ্ডে ১৩টি পরিবারের ২৩টি ঘর ভস্মীভূত হয়েছে। এ সময় নগদ টাকা, কৃষিপণ্যসহ মূল্যবান মালামালও পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে গেছে। সোমবার (৮ মার্চ) জেলার সদর উপজেলার সাতমেরা ইউনিয়নের মাঝিপাড়ায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে। পঞ্চগড় ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্সের কর্মীরা ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে আগুন নেভান।সাতমেরা ইউনিয়নের চেয়ারম্যান মো. আতাউর রহমান খান জানান, সোমবার বিকালে মাঝিপাড়া গ্রামের আব্দুস সালামের ঘরের বৈদ্যুতিক শর্টসার্কিট থেকে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়। মুহূর্তের মধ্যে আগুনে মাঝিপাড়া গ্রামের তেরোটি পরিবারের তেইশটি ঘর, নগদ টাকা ও মূল্যবান মালামাল পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে যায়। এ সময় আগুন থেকে রক্ষায় আরও কয়েকটি পরিবারের ঘর ভেঙে দেওয়া হয়। অগ্নিকান্ডে প্রায় ২০ লাখ টাকার ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পরিবারের লোকজন দাবি করছেন। ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্স স্থানীয়দের সহযোগিতায় এক ঘণ্টা চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। খবর পেয়ে পঞ্চগড় সদর উপজেলা পরিষদ চেয়ারম্যান মো. আমিরুল ইসলাম এবং সদর উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মো. আরিফ হোসেন ঘটনাস্থল পরিদর্শন করেছেন।
পঞ্চগড় ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্সের স্টেশন অফিসার নিরঞ্জন সরকার বলেন, ‘আগুন বিকাল ৪টার দিকে শুরু হয়। সাড়ে ৫টার দিকে নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসে। বৈদ্যুতিক শর্টসার্কিট থেকে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়।’ প্রায় ১২ লাখ টাকা ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলে তিনি জানান।সদর উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মো. আরিফ হোসেন জানান, প্রত্যেক ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পরিবারের মাছে চাল, ডাল, তেল, আটা, ময়দা সুজির প্যাকেটসহ দুটি করে কম্বল বিতরণ করেছি। তালিকা অনুযায়ী টিন ও নগদ অর্থ বিতরণের প্রক্রিয়া চলছে।
